How can I upgrade my hosting package?
For more memory space, databases or e-mail addresses, you can upgrade your product in your customer area.In your customer area, switch to the tab "Purchases" and then select the hosting package you want to upgrade and click the "upgrade" link in the sidebar afterwards.
How can I downgrade my hosting package?
In your customer area you can change to a smaller package. Please consider, that this is only possible when the used resources on your webspace (number of e-mail addresses, databases etc.) are adequate for the smaller package. Create a backup, before you remove the data from your webspace!!How to order a hosting package without a domain on chillydomains?
You can register external domains in your customer area. Then you can order a hosting package for the external or already existing domain. Switch to the tab "Order" and select "order hosting package only" at the sidebar.Can I use my hosting package for more than one domain?
With the packages chillyHost Silver, and chilly Gold you can manage additional domains on the same package. All domains will share the resources of the package like webspace and e-mail accounts.You can add an additional domain with the Control Panel module "Domains". In this module you will also find the correct DNS settings for your domains. Click on "Action >" --> "Check DNS". If the checks fail, you have to edit the DNS settings of your domain to point to the right hosting package.

What features does the chillydomains Control Panel have?
In the Cillydomains Control Panel you can manage all resources of your hosting package. Do not confuse the Control Panel and the customer area. Both systems have different access.You can create e-mail accounts, install software and much more. You can find a detailed overview of all modules in our Control Panel:
How to change the PHP version of my hosting package?
You can easily change the PHP version within the Control Panel module "Web Development".
How to install software in the Chillydomains Control Panel.
Depending on the hosting package in your Control Panel, the module "Software" is available. Here is a list of included programs you can install in a few steps.You should always go through the following steps:
- Choose a program in your software module
- A wizard for install / uninstall will appear
- Before you can copy the required data to your hosting package you have to choose the version and the installation path for your software. Both have to be confirmed by a click on "Next"
- Some software also needs a database (e.g. Joomla or Wordpress). In this case a link to your database management will appear in the wizard. By clicking on the button "Action >" you can see the access data of you database. Later you will need them for the installation
- After copying all files you can start the configuration by clicking on an appeared link.
- When the basic Configuration is finished, go back to the software module, click on "Next" and finish the installation by clicking on "Finish Wizard"
How to install Wordpress in the Chillydomains Control Panel?
- First go to the Chillydomains Control Panel module "Software" of the domain you want to build a WordPress site for and start the installation wizard. WordPress requires a database to run. This database can be created during the installation process.

How to create a backup?
Within a few steps you can create a backup in the module "Backups" of the Chillydomains Control Panel. In this module click on "create backup" and select temporary or permanent backup. Temporary backups will be saved for only one day.Now you can choose the files you want to insert in your backup (e-mail, webspace, database).
You have the option to create backups automatically in a specified interval. It is recommended to use this option after you have created some backups, so that your webspace is not unnecessary filled with outdated backups.
In the Control Panel each backup can be downloaded and imported in a few minutes.
Issues with your website:
My website doesn't get displayed or doesn't get displayed properly. Why?
This can be caused through serveral reasons. Please check if:
- Your website data is stored inside the www-directory
- Your DNS settings are correct. You can check this with the Control Panel module "Domains" with the button "Action >" --> "Check DNS".
- The files on your webspace have a valid filename (index.html, index.php, info.html)
- Whitespaces, umlauts as well as wrong file extensions (index.xyz) can cause issues
What is Malware? How can I protect myself against Malware?
Malware means software, in your case the website, which infects your website by using security vulnerabilities of the used CMS, in the most of the time these are outdated Joomla!, WordPress or Typo3 installations. These security vulnerabilities are for example used to install malware on the PC of the website visitors. There are a lot of different types of malware a few of them are: spyware, trojans, viruses, keyloggers or rootkits. Your homepage is getting checked for malware on a daily basis and if we find something we will inform you about the malware per e-mail. That message also includes a detailed list of the infected files. Information about the malware and the infected files can also be found in the module "Control Panel Logs" of your Control Panel.Protection:
- Always use strong passwords!
The password should contain a minimum of 8 characters. You should use upper and lower case characters, numbers and special characters in your password. Short passwords like first names, easy number combinations like a birth date or common terms should be avoided in your passwords. These are easy to guess for attackers with a Brute Force Attack against your website. - Secure your website and computer!
With malware on your PC it can be possible to get passwords and connection data like the administrator password or your e-mail access data. Because of that always keep your PC and the used software up to date. Of course, it is recommended to use good anti-virus software that will scan your computer regularly for malware. - Pay attention to the permissions of your files!
Your directories or files should never have the permission 777 (rwxrwxrwx) or 666 (rw-rw-rw-). If those permissions are set, everybody has access to these directories or files. The files or directories can be manipulated by everybody and that makes it easy to insert malware into your website. The default values for directories should be 755 (rwxr-xr-x) and for files 644 (rw-r--r-- ). - Make regular backups of your page!
If your site is infected by malware, you can easy restore the data of the last backup to bring your site online again. You can create own backups with the "Backups" module of your Control Panel. With the Backup module you have the possibility to create backups in a defined cycle. With the help of that is it possible to restore your website if you need it. After that it is necessary to fix the available security vulnerabilities. The first step should always be to install all updates of the used software and plugins.
