ownCloud
ownCloud is a free software (open source) which is written in PHP and optionally utilizes a MySQL database.
With ownCloud you can access your data anytime, anywhere and copy photos, music, movies, etc. with drag and drop to your own "Cloud". After the copy operation the data can be accessed on any device with Internet capabilities (PC, laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.). This access is platform independent, the easy-to-use web client can be used for file management. Another advantage compared to other cloud solutions is that the data is stored on your hosting package and only you (or other created users) have access to it.
Furthermore there are apps for iPhone and Android smartphones. Also Windows, Mac and Linux have their own desktop clients which make the data available locally as folders in the file system, thus a convenient data management is possible. In addition to the data management, ownCloud also offers a contact function with an address book and a calendar.
Important: We cannot offer free support for this software because of its large range of functions.
Installing ownCloud: To install ownCloud go into the software module and choose install. Select the version branch then the version of ownCloud and click Next. Now you must specify an installation path for the software and click Next again. After the files have been copied to your hosting package you have to click on the link to start the configuration.
Follow the step-by-step instructions of the installation wizzard and go back to the control panel when you are done to complete the installation.
